Green Plaza Resorts

Identity // 2010

Green Plaza Resorts is an international all-inclusive, and eco-friendly company. The resort focuses on providing an elegant, relaxing and organic environment. The identity package created echos these attributes while emphasizing the companies "green" point of differentiation.

The goal of this project was to take the main attributes of Green Plaza Resorts and build a brochure highlighting these attributes. The brochure elegantly displays each of the company's luxurious locations while providing useful information including location, surrounding attractions, and contact information.

The Northern Iowa Student Government is charged with appropriately spending student funds and relaying important information to the student body. This new site, built with Drupal, allows for the administration to get the information out, and students are able to find exactly what they need.

A new site for the Department of Geography allows for easy content management. The site includes multiple content types so Geography faculty can add new courses, staff, and information with the click of a button.

Forward Motion

Identity // 2010

Forward Motion is a fictional performance wear company. I created a theoretical logo, hang tags, and ceiling banners. This identity package won an ADDY award at the 30th annual American Advertising Federation - Cedar Valley ADDY award competition!

Neville Brody Art Exhibit

Print Design // 2010

Neville Brody is perhaps one of the best graphic designers of today's society. I created promotional posters and booklets for a fictional exhibition of his artwork at the Portland Art Museum. One set is 2-color process, and the other is 4-color process. The 2-color booklet is 8" h x 7" w and the 4-color booklet measures 8.5" h x 7" w.

Provided with a magazine article and a few images, this project focused on creating magazine title spreads based on the criteria of Classical, Asymmetrical, and Aggressive designs. Each spread represents a different "feel" for the article, while remaining tasteful and interesting.

HomePower

HomePower magazine is a publication focused on revealing information on how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. I felt the design of their publication did not align with their goals. When redesigning two article spreads, the table of contents, and the title, I focused on creating a clean, aerodynamic, and cohesive compilation.

Cedar Valley Go 5210!

Go, 5210 is an initiative in the Cedar Valley to reduce childhood obesity through education in the public school system. By reaching out and educating kids, parents, grandparents and the “whole village” and by promoting the practice of Go 5210!, the Cedar Valley community can team together for fit families.

Waterloo Community Playhouse

Print Design // 2009

The Waterloo Community Playhouse is a local theatre that was looking for poster designs for their 2009-2010 season. I designed posters for three of their shows, and my design for "The Canterville Ghost" was selected to be used in all of their advertising, including billboards, flyers, ticket stubs, online promotion, and t-shirts. All other designs were in the final 5 round of selection by the judges.

This was a project completed between a co-worker and I in the Production House at UNI. It is a resource for teachers to educate students about cultures not native to Iowa. Teachers can access sound clips, lesson plans, and other online resources.

Ben-Da-Camp Hallapalooza

The Ben-Da-Camp Hallapalooza is an annual end-of-the-year bash between three Residence Halls at UNI (Bender Hall, Dancer Hall, and Campbell Hall). This logo was used for promotional materials as well as items handed out during the event.

Dolezal Photography was a freelance studio operating out of Des Moines, Iowa. I designed a series of logos for this client, but unfortunately the client didn't keep his business open long enough to get good use out of them.

Graphic Communications - Variable Data

This is a Variable Data Project intended to promote the Graphic Communications Program at UNI. Postcards were sent to companies in the area looking to hire students after graduation. Each postcard represents a different niche - Photography, Graphic Design & Printing, and General Design businesses. This project was submitted to the AAF - Cedar Valley ADDYs and received a Silver Student Spotlight Award.

Graphically Speaking Newsletter

Graphically Speaking is a semesterly newsletter that showcases recent news within the department including new faculty, class offerings, and equipment. This was a team project, and I designed the cover and the general layout of the publication. The publication won a Silver ADDY award at the 2008 AAF Cedar Valley Competition.
